Question 5:  Which example implies a refusal to open the Manaleo bathrooms, most effectively cushioning the  bad news.  The answer is:

C) Although repairs on the bathrooms must continue at a safe pace to ensure cleanliness and safety when they reopen, the maintenance crew reports that they are making good progress.  They hope to complete their work as soon as possible.

The only indication for this to be the correct answer for me is the word “although” and “lots of cushioning”  which I perceived to be rambling and not to the point.  I’m confused as to where the “refusal” to open the bathroom is mentioned?!?

Today Sheila pointed out that we had a situation that was similar to what I discussed earlier in the semester, where one person may have felt like we were arguing when I wasn’t and the situation escalated.

 

 

 

 

I wonder if its how I word things, or should I not question something when I understand it differently?  I felt when the members of our  group each understood the instructions differently then clarification is warranted. If I happen to come off as confrontational that was not my intention, I merely  wanted a better understanding as to what was being asked of us.

I have been working really hard in keeping the company on track. I noticed that a few employees have been stressing out. With holidays coming up, I can only imagine how expensive sales prices have increased . Have you ever thought about paid time off for employees? Has the company ever loss employees dues to not having paid vacation?

 

Dear Dick,

In this ever-changing world of technology, it is important to stay up with the competition. As a dedicated employee I strive to excel at my job, and I am always trying to improve my performance.  I have been going to school for two years now and at the same time working my full time job.  I would like to continue doing both because I will have a computer science degree in less than a year.

I would like to ask for Tuesdays off so that I can continue to work and finish school.  It will only be temporary and this class is really difficult. It will help my job performance for serving the company in the future.

 

Situation: you are currently the best worker in your division. Everybody else is lazy, incompetent punks or a mixture of all three. You end up doing a fair amount of the rest if your division’s work. But your boss doesn’t know this. You ask for a 10% raise.

Response:

To:Mr. Boss

I would like to personally thank you for the top notch equipment that you have provided the fish department. You motivate me greatly and I believe that the quality and speed of our production is evident of your values and have raised the bars that you have set for our department.

While our department is performing well, the quality of the workers is not equal. I come in earlier than the rest of the department as well as leave later to compensate for the department’s less qualified workers. Some of the workers are habitually late or fail to perform at the expectations that you set for us. I do my best to take over the work that is deemed too hard or that they do not fulfill to expectations to ensure that our department’s quality and standards are upheld.

I believe it would be in the best interest of the department if I was appointed a higher position along with a raise of ten percent to compensate for the increased responsibility. I will continue to follow the values and expectations that you have appointed for my current position, along with the additional responsibilities that we can negotiate.

I am willing to do whatever it takes to get a good grade even if it means not getting along with my group members. But I also want things to be as fair as possible so that we don’t have one person doing everything. I believe that it is important for there to be only one vision.

I expect that there will be differences in opinion and also differences in intelligence and competence that could cause difficulty but I am willing to work around it because you cannot expect everyone to be like you. As far as the outcome in concerned I will do everything in power to positively influence the outcome.
