Reasons to make donations to WCC…

1. Benefits the State: I think a good reason to donate to Windward Community College would be that it would help students to accomplish a career and this would help Hawaii in the future to have more professional and people that would benefit the State by working here in Hawaii.
2. School resources: Another good reason would be that money can be going to things that can help the students get to where they want. For example, that money can go to the library, to better the students resources, or the theater, so students have a more decent stage to perform on.
3. Financial help: Donations have personally helped me financially. Thanks to donations I do not have to put as much money out of my pocket to be able to come to school. Donations are a great resource for students to come to college, and I’m really thankful for those wealthy people that are able to help others. God bless them all!!
4. How have I benefited from coming to Windward Community College? -From coming to WCC I have benefited big time! Because not all universities are donated. WCC is one of the main schools that receive big donations not just the students but for the school as well. Attending to this school gives me the opportunity to be part of these donations.

Since October 2015 and every year in October,  students at Windward Community College has held a fundraising event for scholarships.  Our first year we received $80,000.00 and donations continue to climb as more donations pour in, last October 2016 our donations went beyond our goal of $400,000.00.  We deeply appreciate all our donations and share many success stories in our school paper the Ka Ohana, that students are experiencing through your help.  Please help us go beyond our dreams and reach this year’s goal of $750,000.00.  We, the students at Windward Community College are deeply appreciative of everyone that donate towards our education and life successes.

Our Warmest Aloha,

This year’s Ho’olaulea had over 4,000 families and friends in attendance, and provided affordable food, free entertainment, and local products for purchase. This yearly event strengthens community bonding, as well as  provides a safe venue for local family’s to reach out and connect to the Windward Community College (WCC).

During this event the campus community is able to connect with many potiental nontraditional students, who may feel that a college degree is unaffordable and unobtainable. Countless booths are set up to provide resources to any and all who have questions, ranging from cost of tuition to childcare. By providing these resources WCC is enabling members of the community to reach and obtain their goals of earning a college degree.

This annual event relies heavily on volunteers and financial support from you, the community, and alumni of WCC. Though much of the support is donate, the remaining cost of putting on this yearly event is in excess of $50,000. In order to accommodate this cost, we are reaching out to both graduates and the Community who have benefited from this personally or seen the positive affects this annual event has had on the community.

WCC features the first eco-friendly library in the University of Hawaii system. It boasts an impressive 65,000 square feet of collective study spaces, ultramodern technology and various student success services. Including expert assistance from librarians, media and computer techs, teachers, and counselors. WCC’s library was designed to inspire student learning, and with upwards for 50,000 students utilizing the library a year, it supports the importance of maintenance.

You may assist our cause by maintaining our modern computer and audio/visual equipment, purchasing print, electronic books, journal, and other databases. Additionally, we do accept donations to cover the annual increases of subscriptions, software licenses, and other contracts. All of which is greatly beneficial to all students, as it shows within foot-traffic alone. Needless to say, this service also improves and maintains student’s grades and overall school satisfaction.

Dear Potential Investors,

Want to be a part of Hawaiian history and be remembered for something great? I am currently a second year student here at Windward Community College. As a young child growing up here in Kaneohe, iv’e always noticed the beauty that is WCC. It is located just along side the beautiful Ko’olau mountains and is occupied by many of Hawaii’s finest. The school is not only a community college for students, but a place people where we find new friends and even family.

Hello Donator,

Have you been or seen a play?  Plays are pretty cool right, seeing how people act in live action rather than when its filmed where theres less pressure on them.  If you can you should donate whatever you can to the Windward Community College theater.

You should donate because it’ll make you sound like a great person and gets your name out there more.  For instance, they could rename a portion of the theater after you.  some people might invest in your business and that’ll generate more revenue for you.

What are we going to sell today.

WCC is a community college, but the quality of teaching and the comfortable size of the community allows teachers to be more hands on in a classroom. The students are saving 1,000’s of dollars by attending our college, and are being taught as direct as a “Private School”.

All of our classes are transferable to all institutions within the University of Hawaii’s system. Based on Statistics of residents in Hawaii, 70% of community college transfer students in Hawaii transfer over to one of the UH institutions. Our credits acceptance rate for Hawaii residents going to a non-resident university/location are at 90% as well. Our campus takes pride in our students receiving an valuable education.

Dear Investor,

We appreciate you taking interest in our institution of Windward Community College, we have been providing higher education to Oahu’s windward side since 1972 and plan to continue on for many more years to come. One of our main attractions would be our Hokulani Imaginarium, which provides the community with shows of the stars and planets surrounding our solar system. We are home to approximately 2,500 students and have one of the most racially diverse campuses in the country. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Ben

It’s never easy delivering bad news.  I’m not sure even if you’re close with the person or persons involve makes it any easier.  I try at best to put myself in the other persons situation, before saying anything.  And sometimes not saying the obvious is, better, just lending an ear is all they need.  Writing bad news, I would go for the indirect strategy.

Dear City Mill,

I am requesting personal time off to attend my eight year old son’s school performance on Saturday, October 7 at Windward Community College’s Ho’olaulea. I understand the department’s need for customer service coverage and Spencer has agreed to cover my shift. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Ben
