I haven’t wrote a resume in 5 years and today’s class really refreshed it for me. I realized that keeping an updated resume is important for when a job comes up all of a sudden, and you would want to turn in a high quality resume that has been updated and worked on constantly rather than being rushed and not being able to highlight your qualities.

Some things that you would want to keep updated are your awards and honors. The rule of thumb of how far back you should be listing info about yourself is 10 years. You should also have a reference page that has the same format of your resume.

Good luck on everyone’s resume!

Workplace Criticism

Excessive Smoke Breaks 15 minutes of work does not mean 15 minutes of smoke break! Try to take a 15 minute break after 3-4 hours of work. This is to show that you care for the progress of you job and not controlled by smoking. Hygiene Shower, fresh clothes, and wash your hands! How well … Continue reading Workplace Criticism

  • Excessive Smoke Breaks
    • 15 minutes of work does not mean 15 minutes of smoke break! Try to take a 15 minute break after 3-4 hours of work. This is to show that you care for the progress of you job and not controlled by smoking.
  • Hygiene
    • Shower, fresh clothes, and wash your hands!
  • How well they communicate
    • Think before you speak!
  • Micro Manager
    • Trust in your employees or coworkers.
  • Housekeeping
    • No one wants a cluttered work place and it can also be a safety issue.

When giving criticism, be polite and approach the individual openly. If it is a serious criticism then talk to the person in private, never put anyone on blast as it may do more bad than good. Another good indirect way could be talking to the employees as a group and don’t point out an individual and talk about the problem at hand.

Research Exercise 2

What are you individually going to contribute to your group’s leadership, work requirements, communication, and decision making (see step 4 above)? What previous experience with group work have you learned from that you can use to make this experience as collaborative and productive as possible? Leadership: I will help the team move in the right … Continue reading Research Exercise 2

  1. What are you individually going to contribute to your group’s leadership, work requirements, communication, and decision making (see step 4 above)? What previous experience with group work have you learned from that you can use to make this experience as collaborative and productive as possible?
    • Leadership: I will help the team move in the right direction by staying within the subject and continue to motivate my team members.
    • Work Requirements: We are splitting the work evenly through our individual specialties.
    • Communication: We will establish a group chat to have accessible communication between members.
    • Decision Making: The decisions is up to our leader and we just need to be flexible to work around his choices.

  1. Explain in your own words your understanding of the formal report project, the peer review evaluation procedure (last page of the Formal Report Project Guidelines/Rubrics) and the step 5 questions above:
    • What aspects of the topic are most important for you to research? Why?
    • What are your best current options for follow-up research on this topic? (For example, new keyword or subject search options, names of experts, or cited studies/books/other sources)

The formal report project will help us connect to a target audience and have our information easily be presented by using memos, charts, graphs, and data.

There is also the peer evaluation, where we can evaluate other team members and give them a grade reflecting their contributions.

The most important topic in our research in Hawaii’s cost of living vs other states is that the income of Hawaii residents makes it hard to go to school due to the increasing cost of living and tuition.

The best follow-up research would be EBSCO, and IPED.

  1. Review the Team Effectiveness Pit Stop form below, then answer this question: What can I do to help my team achieve 7s on the pit stop form when we fill it out in 3-4 weeks?

To help my team get all 7s on the pit stop, I will help my team with the best of my knowledge, provide constructive criticism and be open minded.

For the upcoming team assignments, I am willing communicate, and share the workload among my team members. For the upcoming team assignments, I am willing communicate, and share the workload among my team members. If worse comes to worse, I am also willing to do the whole assignment by myself if my team members fail to commit and do any work.

As it is a team assignment, I expect each individual to put in the effort for their part of the assignment and if they have problems, I also expect them to seek help within the group.

My goals for this assignment is to learn basic leadership abilities and work together to get an A.

Doubt -_-

Never DOUBT yourself! For the in-class recall practice 2, I missed the first question about bias free writing. It was a true or false question that I spent the most time thinking about even though I came back to it and changed my original answer. Never DOUBT yourself! For the in-class recall practice 2, I missed the first question about bias free writing. It was a true or false question that I spent the most time thinking about even though I came back to it and changed my original answer. After it was over, I noticed that I got it wrong and instantly started talking down to myself. I should have listened to what others have been saying to me for years and that is to trust my gut feeling! On the next recall, I will be trusting myself more and sticking to my gut feeling.
